In the Name of Jesus

apostacey121e33c6-2555-4c33-9c85-e415a0be4fbb-large

Did you ever wonder why the Bible tells us that we have authority in the name of Jesus and yet scriptures plainly tell us that one can believe in another Jesus? That is, a person can believe in a Jesus which is one of their own imagination, understanding, or organized religion and he is not the Jesus of the Bible.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many [again note that Christ said “MANY”] will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:21-23.

First of all let us examine the premise; one can believe in another Jesus who is not the Jesus of the Bible.

  • Paul says, “For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.” 2 Corinthians 11:4
  • Paul warns “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-9

So as you can see from scriptures, it is very possible to be converted to a false gospel and believe in a false Jesus too.  Now, check out these scriptures.

    • For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”  Will come in my name (on behalf of)And shall deceive many- to cause (someone) to believe something that is not true; in order to gain a personal advantage.
    •
    • Saying, “I am the Christ.” Or in other words I am anointed of God.
    • Many (an innumerable amount)
    • Matthew 24:5-8
  • On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ Matthew 7:22Many will say to be– (an innumerable amount)We prophesied in your name-spoke in his behalf, saying God told them thus
  • Works in your name– miracles, virtuous deeds, moral power, force
  • Lord, Lord– these claim to know him. As they address him as master.
  • On that dayjudgment day

Now to my point; In order to use someone’s name legitimately, or perform legal action in the name of another, act on their behalf, proxy: one must be authorized to use that name.  If you will notice, Jesus said to those using his name and doing works in his name and being rejected for it at judgment day, Jesus said, I NEVER KNEW YOU.  He did not say, “I once knew you, but I do not know you now, he said NEVER, and never means never.   ( at no time in the past or future; on no occasion; not ever)

However, these people going about doing works in Jesus name thought that they knew him! They called him Lord! They even thought that they were doing miracles in his name. But were they really? I have noticed that many doing so called miracles hardly ever get doctor verification or witnesses for their so called miracles. Seriously! Why not?

Now I am not saying that God does not perform miracles, but what I am saying is that many deceivers also claim they are doing miracles in Jesus name. So, miracles are not a sign of a true Christian with authority to use the name of Jesus by proxy (agent, deputy, emissary, representative)

This is why the Bible says to test the spirits. And prove ALL things. There are false anointed one out their claiming to know Jesus, when in fact, they believe in another Jesus and preach another gospel. (One made up in the minds of men and not based on scriptures.  )

Always check out what the person is preaching, even if they make you think someone is getting a miracle or even if there is a bonafide miracle because yes, Satan can perform miracles, scriptures attest to this. For example, New age healing and many other kinds of mumbo jumbo have actually healed people, such as hypnosis, mind control, new age spirit healing ect.

Even preachers could be doing healings and miracles by demons and have a false anointing (another spirit)

The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie,” 2Thess. 2:9

for they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them together for the war of the great day of God, the Almighty.” Revelation 16:14

“If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,’”  Deut. 3:1-12

“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.” Matthew 24:24

In order to use the name of Jesus legitimately we must be born again, called by him, and be in obedience to scriptures. Many of these false anointed ones preach things contrary to scriptures. They also are very good at making up a lot of subjective stuff too. Make sure all preaching you receive can be backed up with scriptures comparing scriptures. Sometimes these sneaky false deceivers will speak great big swelling words as scriptures tell us. In other words they are silver tongued.

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” 2Corinthians 11:13 -15

Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. John 3:1-15

Scriptures give us safe guards against false prophets, teacher, apostles, pastors, evangelists.

Here are some things to watch for.

  •   Bad fruit- sexual sins, lying, cheating, faking, stealing
  • False teachings- (non scriptural, adding to or taking away from the Bible or misconstruing in order to pervert or change)
  • Greedy for gain- always asking for money, fleece the sheep in order to live high on the hog
  • Braggarts-always boasting about themselves as some great one, vain, self exaggerated.
  • Prophesying for money- you have to pay exorberent amount of money to hear them speak.
  • They give false words that do not come to pass.
  • They will tell you that there is another way to come to salvation, that Jesus is not enough or that he is not really God.
  • They do not like the grace of Christ and prefer the works of the law.
  • They scatter the sheep by abuse of power
  • They are sensual, of this world, love the world, and preach the exploits of this world.
  • They preach flattering words that the people want to hear but never subjects that deal with sin.
  • They pervert the grace of God into sensuality. In other words they say that you can live a lifestyle of sin and be saved. This is not true! If you are really saved then you will live separated from the world and its evil.

Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion. Jude 11

For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naïve. Romans 6:18

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew 7:21

But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him. Deut. 18:20-22

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:16

An appalling and horrible thing has happened in the land: the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests rule at their direction; my people love to have it so, but what will you do when the end comes? Jer. 5: 30,31

You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. Gal. 1:6-9

“I did not send the prophets, yet they ran; I did not speak to them, yet they prophesied.” Jer.23:21

And her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken. Exk.22:28

Its heads give judgment for a bribe; its priests teach for a price; its prophets practice divination for money; yet they lean on the Lord and say, “Is not the Lord in the midst of us? No disaster shall come upon us.” Micah 3:11

Yet in like manner these people also, relying on their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and blaspheme the glorious ones. But when the archangel Michael, contending with the devil, was disputing about the body of Moses, he did not presume to pronounce a blasphemous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.” But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively. Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion. These are hidden reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted; Jude 8: 8-16

Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!” declares the Lord. Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning the shepherds who care for my people: “You have scattered my flock and have driven them away, and you have not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for your evil deeds, declares the Lord. Then I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply. I will set shepherds over them who will care for them, and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, declares the Lord. “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. Jer. 23:1-40

And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. 2 Peter 2:3

They have seen false visions and lying divinations. They say, ‘Declares the Lord,’ when the Lord has not sent them, and yet they expect him to fulfill their word. Ezek.13:6

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; .2 Peter 2:1-22

And the Lord said to me: “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds. Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who prophesy in my name although I did not send them, and who say, ‘Sword and famine shall not come upon this land’: By sword and famine those prophets shall be consumed. And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, victims of famine and sword, with none to bury them—them, their wives, their sons, and their daughters. For I will pour out their evil upon them. Jeremiah 14: 14-16

For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved. 2 Peter 2: 18,19

For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ. Jude 1:4

In conclusion, God gives authority in his name (JESUS) to his sheep that are known by him.

What this means is, that when a Christian represents Jesus Christ in proxy, then the authority they are given is onoma (GREEK) which means to come in his character and likeness.

The Bible does not give license to use Jesus name as a magic formula for whatever we want, but rather as a representative of Jesus, you have authority to be like him in character so that you represent him to the world. Christian means Christ like.

In Hebrew culture, a name represents the person, so to put the name of Jesus to something we must make sure that we take his name as sacred, according to his character described in the Bible and not in vain. Taking Jesus name in vain means to use the name of Jesus without producing the results of his character and word. Christians have authority in the name of Jesus to represent him to the world, so if one is misrepresenting him in this world they will be judged for that.

On Judgment day we will give account for how we lived as a representative of Jesus Christ in this world and not based on how many miracles were performed in our ministry. Satan is a very crafty liar and deceiver. Many calling themselves anointed of God are nothing more than deceivers who represent their father the devil. Do not follow after them or their judgment will be our judgment. Be wise and check out everything you hear and see in these last days, for many will come in Jesus name claiming to know him and be his representative but they are not. You will know them by their fruit.

That Wicked

propecey

The Bible calls anti Christ, “that wicked,” which reveals that anti Christ has Satan’s nature.

“And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming.” 2 Thessalonians 2:8

The word wicked in this verse is anomos which means departing from the law, a violator of the law, lawless, wicked. In other words anti Christ opposes God’s law and definitely has no grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

That wicked is referred to in other scriptures identifying Satan.

We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. 1 John 5:18

Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.” 1John 3:12

When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. Matthew 13:19

I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. 1 John 2:14

Those who are not born of God belong to the wicked one and have his nature. Anti Christ will have the devil’s nature too.

Another name for anti Christ is Belial. The term Belial is a Hebrew adjective meaning “worthless”

What concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?” 2 Corinthians 6:15

This shows that anti Christ and his seed all are in opposition to Jesus Christ. In fact all who are not born of God belong to the devil and have his nature.

The Bible shows us about the Belial nature from the sons of Eli who were called sons of Belial

They were called by God worthless men” because they were idolaters.

Belial is used as a common Semitic idiom to refer to lawless men doomed to destruction.  Commentary on the New Testament use of the Old Testament Gregory K. Beale, D. A. Carson – 2007

The Talmud and rabbinical interpretation use the term “sons of Belial” to personify evil.

In  The war of the Sons of Light against the Sons of Darkness  , which is one of the  Dead Sea Scrolls, Belial is the leader of the Sons of Darkness.

While the mystery of iniquity is already working in this fallen world, with its many anti-Christ’s, there is yet to come in the very last days, a man, anti Christ the personification of evil, a son of Belial the anti Christ.

The Antichrist is also called, “The Assyrian.”(Micah 5:6)

While some people, who do not look at all aspects of the anti Christ to come, will tell you that anti Christ is a Muslim, this is not true. While it is not known definitely, concerning this title, whether anti Christ is of Middle Eastern decent, we do know that he comes out of the Roman Empire.

The Roman Empire did consist of some countries which are Muslim today such as Turkey, Azerbaijan, Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Palestine. However, even though Islam is now considered the major religion in Europe, scriptures tell us that anti Christ “will not regard the god of his fathers or any god but regards himself as god”

Anti Christ is clearly an atheist who adheres to humanist values. (man being god)

Daniel 9:26 tells us that anti Christ will come out of the last days revived Roman Empire. This includes both west and eastern Roman conquest areas.

It may be possible that anti Christ is referred to as “the Assyrian” because he will be from the Jewish Diaspora of the Assyrian conquest. In other words he comes from the 10 lost tribes which were taken captive by the Assyrians (a province of Babylon) in 740 BC and again in 722 BC and dispersed.

The book of Kings States, several times, that the entire people of the Kingdom of Israel had been taken into exile by the Assyrians.

In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abelbethmaachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried them captive to Assyria. II Kings

Against him came up Shalmaneser  king of  Assyria ; and Hoshea became his servant, and gave him presents. And the king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea: for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and brought no present to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison. Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years. In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria , and carried Israel away into Assyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. II Kings 17:3-6

And the king of Assyria did carry away Israel unto Assyria and put them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes: because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded and would not hear them, nor do them. II Kings 18: 11,12

“And the Elohim of Israel stirred up a spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tigathpileser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.” I chronicles 5:26

Today there are more than 1.5 million Jews live in Europe: Two-thirds in Western Europe and one third in Eastern Europe. While we don’t know the exact location of all the 10 tribes of Israel, God knows where they all are. The tribe of Dan was also carried away by the Assyrians.

The book of Daniel clearly states that the Antichrist will come from among the people whose armies destroy the Temple.

“A ruler will arise whose armies will destroy the city and the Temple” Daniel 9:26

The city of Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed in ad 70 by Titus and the Roman legions, but Titus was not the ruler referenced in this verse. Daniel 9:27 describes the ruler as one who will make a seven-year treaty with Israel, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings, and he will set up a sacrilegious object in the temple to defile it.

The Roman Empire covered most of the known world in its day, and Roman Citizenship was extended to many non-Italian peoples

Daniel 9:26 tells us that the same people who destroyed the temple, (which Jesus Christ foretold would happen) are the same people who will destroy the temple in the end times.

The Bible talks about how anti Christ Antichrist will “devour the whole earth,” and he will do this through leading an end time Roman Empire. If you look at the feet which are described as having part iron and part clay you can see that the iron are the same as the legs which represent the Roman empire. The clay is of the earth, which could possibly mean having a humanistic nature. Europe today has a man centered humanist ideology. They are mostly social democrats (socialism)

If you think anti Christ is coming with horns and a pitch fork, think again. He will come as a man of peace, with a smooth talking tongue, very charismatic, full of worldly wisdom, and seem to be sympathetic to humanistic values. He will be an atheist, even though he is from Jewish descent. If you think this is impossible then check out who is running in the next British election. Now, I am not saying that this guy is the anti Christ but what I am trying to show you is how feasible it is to be Jewish and an atheist and sympathetic to humanistic values. And be a political last day’s Roman Empire leader. http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/04/12/ed-miliband-first-jewish-pm_n_5138405.html

Anti -Christ Revealed!

propehecy666-number-of-the-beast

Join me in as I do a study on anti -Christ. Stay tuned for more on my next blog!

There are several different theories of who the anti Christ will be. From my research I have found the most evidence lies with anti Christ coming from a revived Roman Empire. I will show you through terms used in scripture to describe this anti-Christ.

My premise is: Anti-Christ will be the Little Horn in Daniel 7:8. This is among the ten horns Daniel saw rising out of the fourth beast, the revived Roman Empire. Daniel 7:8 says “I considered the horns (the ten) and behold there came up among them another little horn.”

He will come from Europe and (possibly) be Jewish in race. He will lead the new world order, support(at first) the last days Babylonian religion(ecumenicalism) and he will sign a PEACE TREATY with Israel. This anti Christ will be destroyed by Jesus Christ at the battle of Armageddon.

The Bible talks about many Anti -Christ’s (those against Christ) but it also refers to a man who will be against Jesus Christ in the end times. A “man of lawlessness, the man doomed to destruction” who will arise.

At this time the spirit of anti -Christ is getting stronger while the restrainer is pulling back from restraining sin. Soon the church will be taken out of his earth and anti Christ will be manifested in its fullness. This will make the climate right for the lawless one to appear to deceive the world.

1 John 2:18-19 “Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen; from this we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not really of us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but they went out, in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us.”

1 John 2:22-23 “Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father; the one who confesses the Son has the Father also.”

1 John 4:2-3 “By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.”

2 John 1:7 “For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.”

1 John 4:1-3 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.”

While the Bible says that there are many anti- Christ’s, there is only one “man of sin” or “lawless one” who is to come as an end time leader that will bring the world under a one world government led by the revived Roman Empire.

I will go through the Bible with you and show you that this anti Christ will be a false messiah, a Jew, that the Jews will believe to be their messiah to come.

Just so you know, what is happening now in the mid east is preparation for the first war of Gog and Magog, NOT ARMAGEDDON.

Russia and her Muslim allies will attack Israel and be defeated. God will send an earth quake to destroy them, supernaturally. After this war, anti Christ will appear on the scene and make a peace treaty with many peoples, including Israel.

Let’s start at the beginning where anti Christ is first mentioned in the Bible. Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between “thy seed” and “her seed”; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Satan’s seed is the anti Christ and “her seed” is the virgin, (Mary) who bore Jesus with no earthly father, through the Jewish nation of Israel.

You see, Satan is the great deceiver, counterfeiter. He will counterfeit all that God does. He counterfeits the trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit with Satan, the lawless one and the false prophet.

Satan will possess this lawless one, so that he counterfeits Jesus, who is God come to men in the flesh. Satan will also come to men in flesh form. Jesus did miracles and so will this deceiver, by the false prophet, who like Elijah calls down fire from heaven. Revelations 13

The Bible calls this lawless one “The Prince of Tyre.” He will act like the devil acts because he is the devil’s son. He will make himself to be the Jewish messiah, and be accepted as such at first by the Jews. Keep in mind that the Jews are looking for a man to come and bring peace. They are not expecting Jesus as God in the flesh, but a mere man, a ruler, a leader, a peacemaker. After 3 and a half years anti Christ, the lawless one, the son of perdition, like Judas, will proclaim himself to be God and demand to be worshipped. Satan wants to be adored and worshipped by man and he will force this worship on all who take his mark, or his name.

The Bible (Daniel 8:23) says that anti Christ will have a “fierce (`az) countenance (paniym”). What this means is that he will have a rough, power hungry, and strong presence about him. In other words he will have a strong character that is prideful and boasting, lacking humility. The “little horn” boasts with great swelling words like the false prophets who usually have a strong personality and are very convincing, which draw disciples after them.

The Bible also says that he will be a political leader (king)of a European country. He will not be the Pope, just so you know. However, the Pope will be head of the false ecumenical end time one world church, which is already coming into place.

Anti Christ will also be very willful, (Daniel 11:36) the Bible says. In describing this lawless one we can see the exact opposite of Jesus’ character. Just as the Lord came to do his Father’s will and in his Father’s name, the anti Christ will come in his own name and do his own will. Anti Christ will exalt himself and blaspheme God. In other words he will think of himself as his own god and be subject to no one. We can see this attitude in many of the unsaved; willful, disobedient to authorities, selfish, accountable to no one.

Daniel 8:23 also describes anti Christ as being able to understand “dark sentences” (chiydah-Hebrew ) which means that he will be intelligent in espionage and crafty political intrigues. Anti Christ will have worldly wisdom and be able to understand riddles, that is he will be able to read between the lines and be very crafty in his dealings with people.

This lawless one, the “prince” who is to come will know how to convince people that he has all the answers to the world’s problems, so in other words, he is the world’s, “Savior” so to speak.

The Bible also calls the anti-Christ an idol shepherd. Let’s look at this prophecy.

“Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter; Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not. For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour’s hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.

And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock. Three shepherds also I cut off in one month; and my soul lothed them, and their soul also abhorred me. Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.

And I took my staff, even Beauty, and cut it asunder, that I might break my covenant which I had made with all the people. And it was broken in that day: and so the poor of the flock that waited upon me knew that it was the word of the LORD. And I said unto them, If ye think good, give me my price; and if not, forbear. So they weighed for my price thirty pieces of silver. And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the potter in the house of the LORD. Then I cut asunder mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.

And the LORD said unto me, Take unto thee yet the instruments of a foolish shepherd. For, lo, I will raise up a shepherd in the land, which shall not visit those that be cut off, neither shall seek the young one, nor heal that that is broken, nor feed that that standeth still: but he shall eat the flesh of the fat, and tear their claws in pieces.

Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.”  Zechariah 11:4-17

An Idol Shepherd is a leader who does not care for his people. One day God will rise up a wicked leader in Israel. God calls him the “idol shepherd”, one who rather than save will destroy.

This man is foretold as the chief shepherd that makes himself as an idol or object of worship instead of the true Shepherd. While this applies to all false shepherds, there is one idol shepherd of the end times who will lead Israel astray according to this prophecy.

The Bible tells us that anti Christ will receive a deadly head wound and will recover from it.

Revelation 13, verses 3-4

And I saw one of his heads as it were slain, and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world marvelled after the beast. 4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, “Who [is] like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?”

This prophecy also tells us about this wound of the idol shepherd. There are many reasons to suspect that this anti Christ will be Jewish and this is one of them. No Gentile would be a shepherd for Israel. If you look at this chapter carefully, it talks about Jesus being betrayed for 30 pieces of silver and then it goes on to talk about a future idol shepherd. Since the first betrayer was Jewish it is obvious that the second one will be as well. This idol shepherd will be received by the Jews as their messiah until his true colors start to be revealed and then those who reject his leadership will flee to the wilderness where God will protect them.

The whole objective of the tribulation is to bring Israel back to God and to receive Jesus as their Messiah. In order to do this, God will allow them to go through a deception. Then when Jesus comes in the clouds they will “look on him whom they have pierced,” and be sorrowful and yet rejoice, for then, Jesus Christ will be revealed to be the true Shepherd the Messiah of Israel and of all peoples.

Stay tuned for my next blog on this topic!

Educational Background

I have a BA in History and Anthropology/Sociology combo
Paralegal Diploma (specialty research, writing, critical thinking, argument & instruction)
Diploma in Physical Education ( fitness, nutrition, coaching, )
Faith based Social Work ( addictions, poverty, advocacy)
Certificate in Personal Ministry (Intercession,deliverance)
1 year (independant) bible college (concentration area, intercession, deliverance,)

Ministry Experience : Evangelism ministry 20 years (preaching, intercession, deliverance, apologetics ) Ministering and serving low income families, single mothers, marganilized. Administration; started church support groups, started various different outreaches over the years, Internet ministry. My ministry gifts are Evangelism and Teaching. (apologetics in particular)

I am a bond servant of Jesus Christ and am called by him to preach the gospel of grace through faith in Jesus Christ apart from the deeds of the law.

My doctrinal Position is Charismatic Reformed but I was raised Baptist and got saved in a Pentecostal church. I love all the body of Christ regardless of doctrinal differences.

My Statement of Faith I believe that Jesus is God’s Son and is himself God, the third person of the Godhead, (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) I believe the bible says YOU MUST be born again by the Holy Spirit to enter into the kingdom of God. I believe Jesus died for the sins of all that have been called out of darkness into his glorious light. Heaven is for the redeemed and hell is for reprobates. The death of Jesus Christ is the substitutionary atonement. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to comfort, teach, build up, edify, consecrate, and seal God’s people until his return. Jesus will return to the earth to rule and reign for 1000 years on the earth. I believe we are in the end times and anti christ will soon be revealed. I also believe that we are living in the last days of the great apostasy and falling away from the truth of God’s word but God has a remnant,( his elect, chosen before the foundation of the world,) that have not bowed the knee to Baal. These sheep will soon face great persecution that God will allow to take place before the return of Christ.

This persecution which will be world wide will be what separates the true Christian from the false apostates. Those who love not their lives to the end will be shown to be the true church of Jesus Christ but the compromisers of the integrity of God’s word, who choose the spirit of error, worldly doctrines of men, the works of the flesh and the works of the law will be shown to be apostates like Judas and will die in their sins. No one can come to Jesus unless the Father gives him the ability to do so. No one will seek after Jesus unless he is drawn by the Father according to scripture but all whom God calls by his Holy Spirit will come to Jesus and be saved from their sins and be given eternal life for he who has promised is faithful to perfom his promise.

The Lord is calling his people to come out of Babylon : Come out of false new age teaching, Come out of legalistic adherance to OT laws to save you, Come out of false signs and wonders that have no scriptural basis, Come out of witchcraft and the doctrines of demons, Come out of humanism and the promotion of man by self help principles and RETURN TO THE PURE UNADULTERATED WORD OF GOD ! “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. Revelation 18:4

Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

American Gospel?

American Gospel?
By Russ McQueen, 11/2/11

Alan asked me to comment on how preachers of the “American gospel” handle Hebrews 11, and the “Hall of Faith.” I confess this question sparks my passion for the Gospel, but I am afraid the best I can do is a general response.

To start with, I am no preacher, and I don’t speak for preachers. I’m no expert on the American gospel, and I’m certainly no valid critic of how individuals should preach. Most of all, I am not the one who determines whether a person is a Christian or not. Neither do I sit in judgment of anyone else, nor dictate how anyone should pray or read scripture. I am only learning and growing myself, thank God.

However, none of that separates me (or anyone else) from responsibility to observe, study, understand and formulate knowledge and beliefs from which faith emerges. None of these limitations excuse me (or anyone else) from an obligation to learn the scriptures and study doctrines of the faith. So, I do have opinions, and while I am always subject to correction and teaching, I am not afraid to share what I have learned or am in the process of learning and observing. To me, it is a vital part of the learning process.

So, here goes…..What is “The American Gospel”?

In my view, the “American gospel” is “another gospel” which is no gospel at all. It is centered on “me, myself and I”, as opposed to the Biblical Christ, and it holds that the main reason for believing in Christ is that if we do our part, He solves our personal and social problems. The highest benefit of the American gospel is how good it makes me feel. The American gospel emphasizes what I/we supposedly do (and should do) for God, to the relative exclusion of what He has done (and does) for us – except, that is, for the minor things we say He does for us all the time.

The American gospel evangelistic idea is to share “what Christ has done for ME” (such as got me out of a financial jam, repaired my broken relationship, healed my illness, got my kid off drugs, etc.), and insinuate that if you join in, He will very likely pull you out of those same jams as well. Miracles which Jesus performed in the gospel accounts are assumed to be normative – that is, it is assumed that Jesus fed 5,000 and healed the sick to show that is why He came, and to hold those kinds of things out as the promised rewards He will bestow on American gospel believers for “accepting” Him.

In other words, the American gospel focuses on the miracles themselves, rather than on the Savior the miracles were intended to identify and authenticate. American gospel adherents often claim that all kinds of things that happen to them are “miracles,” and you can have YOUR miracle too, if you join up. After all, once one has “accepted” Christ into their hearts, they are entitled to miracles.

This American gospel is often ratcheted up to another level, with “name it and claim it,” “word of faith”, and similar ideas. Instead of Jesus promising to pull us out of jams, we step it up a notch, imagining He will enrich us, multiply our investments, etc. If He fed 5,000, surely that shows he wants to give us stuff. Some preachers use this line of thinking to argue (and manipulate others into believing) that if we invest our money in their “ministry,” then Jesus promises to pay us back many-fold on our “investment.”
When the American gospel has been proclaimed long and relentlessly enough, the real gospel of Christ gets lost in an ocean of self-indulgent, temporal entitlements. Prayer becomes a matter of wish lists, and begins to seem like sitting on the knee of Santa Claus. Worship begins to sound like self-inflation: “Lord I give you all of this”, and “Lord I am all of that…”, but when we stop and really consider many of these kinds of lyrics, they are untrue. We are not ‘all that,” and often our words of adoration and commitment are not what we crack them up to be. The so-called “gospel” begins to seem like a business deal, where we give certain things to God (or at least state our good intentions to do so), and He then, in return, is obligated to give certain things back to us. And we “wait for our miracle.”

If this is what you are referring to, Alan, by the “American gospel,” then I am tracking with you, and I can see why you would ask about Hebrews 13, which highlights Old Testament saints who lived and died without ever seeing the promises of God come to pass in their lifetimes. In fact, these giants of faith were commended by the writer of Hebrews for the fact that they persevered in faith (which, in retrospect turns out to have been faith in Christ) despite receiving NONE of the promises they were holding to. Many of those the writer referred to directly and indirectly libed only long enough to face torture and hideous death at the hands of persecutors.

American Gospel Environment

When we consider how widespread the American gospel has become and how engrained in American evangelicalism it seems to be, we can surmise how it is preached. Some serious razzle dazzle is necessary – one cannot very well preach the American gospel without entertaining the troops and setting the right tone for God to come through with cool blessings. It has to be universal in its appeal – that is, one can’t preach anything that might offend someone and make them feel as though they are not welcome. Above all, there can be no serious preaching of (gulp) doctrines.

We must not challenge anyone’s thinking very much – after all, if people think too much they might begin to ask some basic questions about this American Gospel and start unwinding it. Best not to get TOO serious about the Bible – better to pick out isolated proof texts that seem to support the American gospel without causing very much real study coming into it. Doctrines of the historical, reformed Church? Creeds? Catechisms? Biblical, historical, cultural context? Forget all that – American gospel adherents don’t need that sort of stuff. Besides, deeds before creeds! …that is one of the main battle cries of American gospel proponents.

In fact, it’s best to discourage study and “academics” and that which seems “intellectual” altogether. And it’s important to define study of scripture and church history and doctrines and creeds all as “academic” and “intellectual.” The American gospel works best at a very elementary level. Don’t ask questions like, “Why is the Bible so hard for us to understand if it was easily understood by its original readers?” Or, “Why are printed copies of sermons given in the 19th and early 20th centuries, both heard and understood in their original congregations, almost impossible for today’s Christians to understand?” Instead of these dangerous questions, it’s better to keep Jesus tucked away in “hearts” – in those perfectly “God-shaped holes” where He is safe and won’t cause trouble.

Furthermore, if the American gospel is to be preached, it is extremely important to latch parasitically onto as much of the surrounding culture as possible. Take music, for instance – no way people are going to hang in there for the American gospel if we play organs, or sing from hymnals with a piano, or sing (gasp!) without any instruments, or anything like that. Go easy on the choir thing too – it’s way too old fashioned.

Speaking styles should emulate stand-up comedians or talk show commentators; keep things short, sweet and light. Hit ‘em with sound bites, nothing more. The people want nice lighting, good hand-slapping, up-beat messages, a couple good jokes, a quick exit, music that is not only “good” but better than they can get down the street, and a feeling of well being for just being who they are – so give it to them for goodness sake! If you don’t, they are going to simply go somewhere else, where the American gospel is more fun. The highest value of the American gospel is, after all, fun.
The Real Gospel

The real Gospel of Christ is radically different, and it calls for a radically different approach. Instead of razzle and dazzle, personal stroking and “social transformation,” the Christ of the Biblical Gospel grants pardon for sins and righteousness by imputation, whereby the hopeless sinner stands upright before a mighty and holy God, despite his or her personal depravity and solely on the basis of the undeserved and unearned mercy and election of God. The real Gospel promises ultimate, future completion of the final redemption and restoration of all things, and the return of a triumphant Christ in glory and honor, to save the world and all who belong to Him, changing them from perishable to imperishable and granting them eternal life in His glorious Kingdom. These are the realities and promises that take a distinct back seat where the American gospel is preferred.

Prayer under the real Gospel is quite a bit different than under the American gospel, as a bit of logical thought will easily reveal. So is worship. Preaching, it would seem, has to be different also. For one thing, nothing in the preceding paragraph needs to be repeated when the American gospel is on the menu – in fact, such heavy statements would be a real downer, and would very likely chase visitors away, down the street somewhere, where the American gospel is served up with a perpetual smile. But when the real Gospel is preached, there will very likely be persecution and rejection. The rejection which the real Gospel has always brought about, and the personal charisma and competition that is the earmark of the American gospel, are incompatible.

One major challenge of the real Gospel, of course, is that it is very hard to sell. The American gospel is easy to sell – who wouldn’t want their problems solved? Who wouldn’t want society transformed? Who wouldn’t want a social boost? And the American gospel deal is a bargain! All one has to do is raise a hand when no one is looking, and then attend church once in awhile. Two hours on Sunday morning, once or twice a month, learn a little lingo, make a couple new friends, and bang! It is then possible to say one is “born again” or “saved” or a “Christian.” And perhaps best of all, the American gospel can be dropped with ease, whenever it becomes boring or the crisis of life it seemed to address is past.

But that “real” Gospel – man, it’s hard to sell, and it’s even harder to drop. If someone really wants eternal life, pardon from sins, a new way of life by faith in the Son of God, the Deity who came to save the world, lived a perfectly righteous life as the God-man, died an atoning death for our sins, then rose literally from the dead, ascended bodily to Heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father – these are things that cost more than a couple hours a month and a few bucks once in awhile. They cost everything. To be more precise, they cost JESUS everything! For us, the cost is negligible, even were we to be crucified – for after all, that is what we deserve in the first place.

No, the real Gospel cannot be passed off as easily as the American gospel. No one wants to hear the real one, although the baby in a manger story works ok once a year. The Easter story can work if it is dumbed down enough and the focus placed on, say “new beginnings” (for us, that is) and off of things like a bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead. If you tell most people the whole story, the real one, you will 99% for sure be branded a religious nut. They may even say you are a danger to the world. Someday, and in some places today, they will torture and/or kill you, like they did to innumerable Christians in the first several centuries of the Church, if you proclaim the real Gospel and the whole story.

American Language vs. Real Gospel Language

So, many hold to the American gospel, because it feels a lot safer and more acceptable than the real Gospel, and because its promises are more immediate. They learn a language that identifies them as American gospel believers, but won’t get them in a lot of trouble. It’s relatively safe for them to say things like, “I go to such-and-such church, where the music is sooo wonderful, and Pastor So-and-so is sooo cool…” or “I used to go to the such-and-such church, but we moved because the pastor had some problems (or we lost our lead guitar player) and well, we couldn’t stay THERE any more…”

At least, that’s a lot easier than saying something like, “I am a disciple and believer in Jesus Christ, God incarnate, the second member of the Holy Trinity, and my eternal Savior.” American gospel adherents probably shouldn’t even teach that kind of testimony, because it could be dangerous if anyone actually started talking like that in public.

Besides, it is impossible to major in radical stuff like that and expect to grow the churches. They would probably be drained instead. It’s far better to stick to “personal testimonies” about what American gospel adherents did to “find” God and what happened to them as a result, not what God did and how He saved them from hell when in their depravity they had no chance whatever of rescuing themselves. Rather than how God intervened in fallen, sinful lives and elected His own for salvation, it is far safer to speak of finding Him by exercising that wonderful “free will” we all supposedly have, by which each depraved and sinful individual supposedly has absolute freedom of goodness to “choose” (“make a decision for”) Christ. In the end, the American gospel is all about us and what we did, far more so than God and what He did.

When it comes to language, the American gospel crowd will – if nobody’s looking – use certain words on themselves that sound just like real Gospel words. For example, if George Barna or someone else does a poll survey, millions of American gospel adherents will quite readily say they are “born again.” Of course, this is a phrase that comes from teachings of Jesus in the Bible, which doesn’t have much to say about, or to do with, an American gospel.
American Pelagianism

The American gospel normally assumes that “salvation” is a combination of a little help from God and a whole lot of work and commitment on our parts. In days in which the real Gospel was prevalent and Biblical doctrine mattered, this was known as the “Pelagian heresy,” and it was soundly condemned. “Lip service legalism” is a common result of this heresy. Under “lip service legalism,” laws and rules are taught as though they must be obeyed; and if they are not obeyed, then the good stuff will stop coming from Jesus. How can we expect Him, after all, to relieve our financial pressures or pay off our credit card debts, or heal a relationship, or protect our kids from drugs, if we don’t obey?

However, none of us actually does obey the law, and in fact, all of us sin daily if not minute by minute. Here is the magic of lip service legalism: If American gospel adherents complain enough about OTHER people’s sins, especially those who are gay, or politically liberal, or who (gasp) don’t believe in God, they give the illusion of being righteous themselves by their own efforts, goodness and piety.

The real Gospel is not like this. It causes those who struggle with their sin to thank God every minute for the gift of His grace, whereby in Christ, their sins are not counted against them. They know their sins stink, and they hate that they keep on sinning, but they have come to understand that the greatest gift of God is His mercy and His grace towards them. Moreover, the eternal and enduring grace of God is the great motivator to better living, and is all the encouragement needed for believers in the real gospel to persevere in God’s amazing grace, always trusting Him completely to do for them what they cannot do for themselves. Real believers in the real Gospel tend to grow in Christ and also to experience progressive victory over sin.

Preachers Can Be Trapped

As for preachers, I fear that many of them – having been caught up in the great frenzy to build “successful” churches – awaken one day to find they are leading the First Church of the American Gospel. Some of them know, excruciatingly, that what is needed is the real Gospel. Talk about a rock and a hard place! If they suddenly begin preaching the real Gospel and giving it top priority and coverage, what is going to happen? Very probably, a mass exodus from their churches will happen. How will they stay afloat? How will they grow enough to “plant” another church? How will they explain their shift in focus to denominational leadership? How will they face their church boards, who really like the American gospel?

Sorely Needed Message

If anyone thinks this has been an unfair or cynical description, I say with confidence that it is neither. My opinion is that this is the most crucial and threatening challenge facing the Church today – far more threatening than sin in the culture, or even sin in the camp. The message we need to carry is the message of the real Gospel, and that message should in no way be restricted to people outside of the Church. Our churches are sorely, severely in need of the real Gospel.

The American gospel is a false idol, whereas the real Gospel is “the power of God for salvation” (Romans 1:16).
